In November 2025, the Academic Ability Test (TKA) will be implemented in Indonesia, and it will be voluntary. However, it will still be implemented for high school students. It is planned to be implemented for elementary and junior high school students in April 2026.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Saratri Wilonoyudho, MSi, is a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Semarang State University and a social and environmental observer. In her review of the Academic Ability Test for Indonesian students, she explained that although it is voluntary, the test can be used as a reference or objective indicator of student academic achievement, even for certain subjects.

In addition to being an indicator, the TKA can also map the quality of education in various regions. In the future, this academic ability can help develop Indonesian human resources who will be able to compete globally.
