Not only performers in the Arts have felt the economic impact of COVID-19. Staff who support performances have also been hit. Fortunately, for some workers there has been financial support that is not tied to the Job Keeper and Job Seeker access criteria.


Fransiska Wuri Nugrahani (Siska) is an international student who had been working casually as catering staff at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC.)  Siska is grateful that MCEC has used a salary maintenance scheme to support its casual staff but wonders how she will support herself when the scheme ends.
