The main body representing Australian medical professionals has questioned a federal government plan for changes to the way health-care is delivered to people suffering with multiple chronic diseases. The Australian Medical Association (AMA) says it wants more details about how the so-called "Health Care Homes" will be funded, ahead of a scheduled trial of the program starting next year.
Government has committed to investing 21-million-dollars in getting the scheme started ahead of a planned national roll-out, which the Health Minister Sussan Ley says is expected to be cost-neutral.
But reports of a leaked Council of Australian Governments document reveal 70-million-dollars towards the program may come from designated hospital funding over the next three years.
