In this week’s COVID-19 update, Victoria relaxes its rules around face coverings, New South Wales had a hotel quarantine scare and Western Australia permitted quarantine-free travel for people from New South Wales and Victoria.

Premier Victoria Daniel Andrews said facemasks had to be carried at all times to make it easier for people to wear them when needed.

In other news, the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) said it would be well-positioned to make a decision on vaccine approvals towards the end of next month and Victoria has started accepting travellers returning from abroad in an updated hotel quarantine system.

Meanwhile, travellers from South Australia will be allowed to enter WA without the need for quarantine starting Friday [11 Dec].
