Bowral is a stylish country escape in the Southern Highlands, where lush gardens, boutique cafés, and cool-climate wineries meet relaxed charm.


Bowral is the largest town in the Southern Highlands, New South Wales, Australia, located about 90 km southwest of Sydney, originally inhabited by Tharawal Aboriginal people.

Bowral was built first by Lieutenant John Oxley in 1816.

Known as' Wingecarribbee ', the area was the property of the sons of John Oxley - the famous explorer of the early colonies of New South Wales.

The city is a popular destination in the Southern Highlands, known for its cultural attractions and scenic views with a charming mix of boutique shopping, gourmet dining, wineries and beautiful country gardens.

Each year, the Tulip Time Flower Festival is held at Corbett Gardens which features more than 80,000 tulips and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from various venues during the festival.

Bowral also became famous as the hometown of cricket legend Sir Donald Bradman and is home to the Bradman Museum & International Cricket Hall of Fame.

In addition Bowral is also known as the birthplace of Mary Poppins,, a fictional character magical nanny created by author, P. L. Travers.
