Instances of conflict of interest are in the news more and more. There has been special focus on conflict of interest for politicians both in Australia and overseas but the issue may be prominent in other areas and dealings, including our own. What can recent events in Australia teach us?
Dr Jacqui Baker is a lecturer in South East Asian Studies at Murdoch University with expertise in corruption and illegal economies in Indonesia. She explains the dimensions to conflict of interest in both Australian and Indonesian contexts. It is sometimes hard to self-regulate, especially where relationships and families are concerned.
