Rock fishing can be a picturesque activity, particularly on Australia's coastlines. But the ocean is unpredictable, and that makes rock fishing a dangerous activity, too.


Authorities are trying to make it a little safer by spreading awareness of safety procedures and safety equipment.
While some things might seem obvious, they're often overlooked by people engaging in boating and rock fishing.

Alex Barrell, the Chief Executive of Marine Rescue New South Wales, is emphasising the importance of equipment like life jackets.
