During the 2025 Eid-al-Fitr period, the ongoing conflict in Gaza and other regions in Palestine was still costing many lives.
This reality was on the minds of many members of the Muslim community in Melbourne, Australia - that those facing the grim situation in Palestine were also of the Islamic faith and yet did not have the opportunity to joyfully celebrate the end of the Ramadan month.
Thus, the Eid celebration in Melbourne’s public open space - Federation Square - was marked with expressions of sympathy and solidarity towards victims of the conflict in Palestine.
