Emotional abuse of Australian children is on the rise, becoming the most common form of child violence.


Mental health experts are calling for more awareness about the hidden damage caused by emotional violence and its profound impact on young people's lives.

New research reveals it has become the most common form of child violence in the country, however, only half of Australians will report their concerns about alleged child violence to authorities. A

mental health professor and contributor to the Australian Child Maltreatment Study said the report revealed that the impact of sexual abuse was similar to emotional abuse.
