Let's get to know one of Melbourne's cycling hobby communities, MICC.

The Melbourne Indonesian Cycling Club, or MICC, is a cycling community founded in September 2017 by Indonesian residents in Melbourne. What began as a WhatsApp group has evolved into a hub where Melbourne's Indonesian diaspora stays connected through their passion for cycling.

This volunteer-run community goes beyond just sport - it's a networking and social support system, especially valuable for Indonesian students who've just arrived in Melbourne and are dealing with homesickness.

MICC operates through a decentralised approach, with small groups across different areas - the city, east, and west Melbourne - for daily rides, then gathering as a larger group on weekends.

SBS Indonesian spoke with three MICC members - Rocky Kristianto, one of the founders, Christian Purnomo, and Christine Tanod - to explore this community's story, the challenges they've encountered, and the physical and mental health benefits members gain from cycling together.
