In a time of global concern about climate change and its impact, there is debate about the best ways to mitigate floods in Indonesia. One suggestion is to make better use of forests to hold rainfall.


Prof. Dr. Irfan Budi Pramono, is an expert in forest hydrology and the senior researcher at the Watershed Management Technology Centre.  He explains why Indonesia’s forests can help mitigate floods, and why there are difficulties in making it happen.  Why?
