The federal government has revealed the first tranche of its much-anticipated industrial relations reforms.

The changes will give casual workers a better path to permanent employment -- they will also retrospectively wipe-out tens-of-billions-of-dollars in potential claims.

Labor's Industrial Relations spokesman Tony Burke agrees that casuals will have fewer rights under the proposed laws and his party will be scrutinising the bill once it's introduced to parliament.
