Govt enacts new measures to curb coronavirus spread

Sunday's National Cabinet meeting saw Australia's political leaders enacting drastic new measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.


After the number of coronavirus cases in Australia surpasses 1000, the National Cabinet met on Sunday night to discuss strategies for dealing with the pandemic.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the heads of the states and territories announced new measures, including shutting down some places of social gathering while keeping schools open.

As of Tuesday afternoon, only people who have recently travelled from overseas or have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case and experienced symptoms within 14 days are advised to be tested.
