The theme of this year's UN International Women's Day is 'Investing in women: Accelerating progress'. This is a good time to reflect on the progress made in improving women's lives globally and also highlight the things that still need to be done.

Kate Walton is a women's activist living in Canberra. Kate told SBS Indonesia that while some progress has been made, countries around the world still need to increase their funding for women's empowerment and to achieve gender equality.
