Located at the Indonesian Consulate General office in Sydney, the electronic passport or e-passport for Indonesian citizen was launched.
Sydney is the first in the immigration workforce in the Pacific and Oceania regions to receive this service.

Mr Karim said that although there is an opportunity for citizens who want to replace their old passports with ones embedded with this new technology, non-electronic passports can still be used until they are expired.
The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pahala Nugraha Mansury, Indonesian Ambassador to Australia and Vanuatu Dr Siswo Pramono, Indonesian Consul General in Sydney Vedi Kurnia Buana, as well as several community representatives.
