This village is a tourism project of Malang City which in May 2024 won the Best City Ordinate One Regional Development Award or BPD at the national level from the Ministry of National Development Planning, National Development Planning Agency, BAPENAS.
The award was presented directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, to the Mayor of Malang, Dr. Wahyu Hidayat in Jakarta.
This activity of Kampung Heritage Kayutangan has increased tourist visits and strengthened the creative economy.

SBS Indonesia visited this Kampung Heritage Kayutangan where there are several legendary stalls such as Talun Ice Depot located at the outer end of the Kampung Village Kayutangan.
We had a chat with Mrs. Ida who explained the history of the Depot that she has managed since 1998 until now.
Mrs. Ida explained the positive influence of the Kampung Heritage project on the Depot she manages.

Another interesting coffe shop is Cafe Hamur Mbah Dut.
Hamur is a typical language of Malang which means home (if read from behind).
This cafe serves a variety of coffees that come from various regions in Indonesia.
Mas Ivan explained that this coffee shop he manages has existed for a long time. But local tourists have flooded the place since the opening of Kampung Heritage in 2018.

The development of Kayutangan Heritage Village in Malang City involves cooperation and synergy from various stakeholder elements, namely the central government, universities, creative economic community, heritage preservation activists, business operators, and banking in Malang City.
