How can social media be regulated fairly?

The Indonesian Law for Electronic Information and Transaction (ITE) is controversial. Its aim is to create a safe digital space in Indonesia and to free Indonesia from hoaxes and hate speech. But how can the law be policed fairly?


Laras Susanti is a lecturer in Law at Gadjah Mada University.  She explains why the Virtual Police - the police squad that monitors social media content - is repressive and that Indonesia will not have a safe and fair digital space until the IET itself is revised.
