It's a common misconception that a partner visa requires you to be married to an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or valid visa holder. But that's not the case.
Wahyu Diyansyah, an Indonesian living in Melbourne, shared with SBS Indonesian how he obtained a partner visa despite not being married to his partner.
Before applying for the partner visa, Wahyu and his partner obtained a relationship certificate. With this document in hand, Wahyu proceeded with the partner visa application.

Wahyu explained that the process to obtain a partner visa was quite involved.
One of the requirements was to submit statutory declarations from both families in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
