Five years after COVID was declared a pandemic, Professor Paul Kelly — Australia's former chief medical officer — is convinced that the loss of public trust will be a “major problem” if there is another global outbreak of the disease.

Professor Kelly is also concerned about the erosion of public trust. He worries that people may not receive other vaccine programs.

“And I think that becomes a problem because that's where I think a lot of disinformation, misinformation, and lack of trust can be returned.”
“The Australian public believes strongly in medical advice and responsible politicians at national, state and territory levels. I'm not sure that's the case now. '
