Australian health officials say masks are not mandatory for everyone to try to stop the spread of COVID-19. But has the current outbreak in Victoria changed that situation?


In the initial stages of a pandemic, Australian authorities have suggested that its use is not necessary for most people.

But as more evidence is obtained about the virus, experts say the recommendation might change.

For months, the official suggestion in Australia is that most people don't need to wear masks.

It is said some community members might choose to wear masks in situations where it is impossible to maintain physical distance.
