Israel has reacted with anger after the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution calling for it to immediately halt settlement construction on occupied Palestinian land.
The resolution said their construction is a threat to the policy known as the two-state solution -- whereby Israel and Palestine exist peacefully alongside each other with internationally-recognised borders.
