Ten thousand old mobile phones have stopped working this week after telecommunication giants Telstra and Optus started the shutdown of its 3G networks.
As the first high-speed mobile network in the world, 3G was launched in Australia in 2003, before it was overtaken by better and faster connections.
However, some regional and rural communities are worried they will be most affected during the transition
