Lilis Mulyani, a researcher from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences who is currently undertaking a PhD at Melbourne University talks about protecting the land rights of traditional local communities.


Why has the Indonesian Government issued an acknowledgement of the land rights of local traditional communities? Why is this scene as a breakthrough?  In what way does the agreement resemble the issue of native title in Australia?  Lilis Mulyani, explains.
