United Nations Women and the governments of France and Mexico have hosted the largest international conference on women’s rights in more than 25 years.

The Generation Equality Forum, held in Paris discussed plans to radically accelerate gender equality progress over the next five years.

The last time world leaders gathered to address gender inequality and invest in women's advancement was in 1995 for the Beijing World Conference on Women.

It was there that former United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, first-lady at the time, delivered her iconic speech saying "womens rights, are human rights."
