The Indonesian Consul for the Northern Territory, Bagus Hendraning Kobarsih, shared an overview of what life is like for the Indonesian diaspora in the region.
Mr Kobarsih said that the community continues to maintain a strong connection with their homeland, one way being through celebrating important occasions such as Indonesia’s Independence Day on August 17 and organising family events to strengthen bonds among community members.
He also highlighted the importance of community events in maintaining a spirit of solidarity and communication among Indonesians living abroad. These gatherings are not only as opportunities for diaspora to come together, but also to share information about Indonesia and support one another.
