Menopause occurs naturally when a woman’s ovaries no longer have any eggs to release. In other words, the end of menstruation. For women, it is a change of life.

For some women this change of life is hardly noticeable. For others however, it can cause anxiety or even depression. Therefore, the more we understand how to recognise the symptoms or aware of the early sign of menopause, the better we can negotiate this difficult period in life. Letizia Alessandrini Edison is a medical doctor in Surya Medika Hospital in Surabaya, specialising in Clinical Embriology. She is currently completing her Masters program at Monash University. To the SBS Indonesian Program she explains how to recognise the symptoms of menopause and how to seek help if necessary.
