Author and journalist Dewi Anggraeni talks about the continuing ambivalence about Indonesia felt by Chinese Indonesians who were traumatised by the events of 1998.

Why do some Chinese Indonesians who came to Australia after the events of 1998 still find it difficult to go home?  Why is it important for the Indonesian nation not to ignore this dark chapter of its history?  Dewi Anggraeni explains the emotional tensions and fears that affect the protagonists of her latest book My Pain My Country.
