National Sorry Day, or National Sorry Day, is a day to recognize the survivors of the Stolen Generation and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our communities and nations.

It is almost 30 years since a landmark report recommended a proper redress scheme for survivors of the Stolen Generation.

Advocates are calling for immediate action to help the survivors of Stolen Generations.
The effects of the forced removal of Indigenous children from their families — based on government policy — still continue to this day.

Under government policy in force from the 1910s to the 1970s, Aboriginal children and Torres Strait Islanders were forcibly removed from their families.

Evidence of the historical and sustained impact has been widely documented in a landmark report submitted to parliament in 1997 entitled Bringing Them Home. It is

years since the report was submitted to parliament on 26 May, which is now commemorated as the annual National Day of Apology to commemorate and acknowledge what happened.
