Dr Poppy S Winanti, a lecturer in the International Relations Department at Gadjah Mada University talks about progress in the negotiations for a trade deal between Indonesian and Australia.


Why was a trade deal between Australia and Indonesia not achieved by the end of 2017? Why do domestic politics play a significant role in the negotiations?  Given Indonesia’s regional relationships is a trade agreement with Australia so important?  Dr Poppy S Winanti addresses the issues.
