The Australian Defence Force will accept non-Australian recruits for the first time from July 1, starting with New Zealanders before expanding to all permanent residents from January next year.
And after 90 days of service, they can obtain Australian citizenship if they have settled as permanent residents for a year.
Normally, you must have lived in Australia for at least four years before applying for citizenship. But soon, there will be a new path.
