For the first time, the Batak community in Victoria held a joint Christmas celebration and invited other Indonesian communities.

The Victorian Batak Community hosted a Christmas celebration event, with Christmas carols sung in the Batak language and drama performances. Representatives from other Indonesian communities, including those from Ambon and Manado, also attended.

The event, held on 29 November at the Clayton Community Inn in Melbourne, ran from 4:00 to 10:00 PM. In addition to celebrating Christmas, the event also raised funds for the flood victims in Sibolga, North Sumatra.
Event coordinator Mr Hernius and organiser Mrs Farida said a purpose of this event was to introduce Batak culture to the younger generation born and raised in Australia, as well as to strengthen solidarity among the Indonesian diaspora.
