A report compiled by Pearson on 3,000 visa applicants who took the English language test [[in the six years to Nov 2023]] found that Those people, receiving higher salaries and job results, were about $20,000 a year more than the average salary of Australians.
This has a direct impact on the wider economy in the areas of skilled employment for which demand is high.
The federal government announced in December [[2023]] that it would increase English language test requirements starting earlier this year.
