'Schoolies' began when a number of Brisbane school graduates traveled to the Gold Coast for a long weekend of partying with their friends in the 70s.
Since then, it has been expanded into a week-long vacation that is often seen as a path to freedom related to adulthood by adolescents throughout Australia.
