On 30 March Indonesia celebrated National Film Day. There were reflective assessments of how far film making in Indonesia has progressed. Everyone agrees that Indonesia’s short films are extraordinary, but what about feature length movies? Such as Abracadabra the opening film for the 15th Indonesian Film Festival.


Film lover and film critic Dr Gaston Soehadi and Gandang Warah, the cinematographer for the film Abracadabra, discuss the film’s extraordinary colour and cinematic beauty and its uniqueness in the history of Indonesian feature film making.  Is Abracadabra a milestone in the world of Indonesian film?
