The practice of unregistered marriage "Nikah Siri" or religious marriage, which is also often referred to as an illegal marriage by Law, is still commonly practiced by women in Indonesia.


This siri or religious marriage is very detrimental to the women, especially from a legal standpoint.
An advocate who is also an activist for women's rights, Sukiratnasari, discussed the practice of unregistered marriage.
