Skills visa regulations changed from December 7

Starting on 7 December 2024, the Skills in Demand (SID) visa replaces the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visa and the consolidated Core Skills Occupation Register (CSOL) also replaces the previous dual skills employment list used for the TSS Visa.

The fundamental changes are for the sponsorship of subclasses 482 and 186 and the introduction of a new stream for subclass 858.

All SID (Skills in Demand) visas now allow holders to work in Australia for up to 4 years, longer than 2 years with a TSS Visa.

The English language requirements were levelled to the equivalent of IELTS min 5 or PTE min 36 and the Core Skills Job List (CSOL) was consolidated into the CSOL for both first streams of SID visas still providing a pathway to Permanent Residency as the previous TSS Visa through the Employer Nomination Scheme Subclass 186 Visa.
