The Permanent Court of Arbitration has rejected China;'s claim over territory in the South China Sea in the long-running dispute between China and the Philippines China has said it will reject any ruling from the court, arguing it has no jurisdiction over the waters.


Other countries, including Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam, also have claims over the region, while recent military activity in the area by the United States has heightened tensions.
