Sydney Stabbing Attacks: A sign of the rise of extremism?

Two horrific stabbing attacks, just a mere three days apart, have rocked Sydney residents, leaving them feeling like their sense of safety had been shredded.


Twin tragedies struck Sydney recently. Several lives were tragically lost in an incident at Bondi Westfield, while a separate attack at a Wakeley church is believed to be religiously motivated.

These events raise concerns about a potential rise in extremism. Community leaders have urged for unity in the wake of these attacks. But what can we do as individuals?

SBS Indonesia spoke with Prog Greg Barton, internationally renowned expert on terrorism, extremism and political history, Chair of Global Islamic Politics, Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalization (ADI).
