Densus 88, the Indonesian National Police’s counter-terrorism squad arrested Munarman, the former secretary-general of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI.) He was arrested on suspicion of supporting terrorist activities. Was the arrest justified?


Dr Greg Fealy OAM is associate professor of Indonesian politics and head of the Department of Political and Social Change at the Australian National University.   He explains the events surrounding Munarman’s arrest and assesses whether the Indonesian government is taking the right approach in dealing with the FPI.
