After more than a decade the Australian citizenship test is being updated. The test will require candidates to answer multiple choice questions about values that are important to Australia. The new test will come into operation from mid-November.

People will be able to download an updated guide called 'Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond,’ to get ready to do the new citizenship test.  There will be no changes to the English language or residency requirements for citizenship, but more opportunities for people to learn English will be available.
