Sporting clubs are often the heart and soul of local Australian communities. Ringwood City Soccer Club (formerly Wilhemina) is one of those clubs. With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions a crucial part of community life has returned – playing sport.


Dutch migrants established the Wilhemina soccer club when they arrived in Melbourne in the 1950s. The club’s name was changed to Ringwood City SC, but the club’s history and ethnic identity are still important.  Club registrar Dr Ken Setiawan explains why Ringwood City SC plays such an important role in her life and in the life of her community.
