Iwan Awaludddin Yusuf, who is a lecturer in Communication Studies at Indonesia Islam University in Yogyakarta and a PhD candidate in the School of Media, Film and Journalism at Monash University, talks about how blame is often put on women who are victims of sexual harassment and violence in Indonesia.


Why is victim blaming culturally ingrained in Indonesia? Why haven’t things changed?  Has President Jokowi been sufficiently pro-active in reforming this practice? Iwan Awaludddin Yusuf describes the obstacles faced by people wanting to eliminate the practice of blaming women who are victims of sexual violence.
