Victoria is on track to become the first place in the world to eliminate cervical cancer


 

 

New research shows rates of the disease have almost halved in the last 40 years .. with screening and vaccinations putting the state on track to eliminate the disease within a decade

New research from the Cancer Council shows it could be a future Victorians soon won't have to imagine.

The rates of cervical cancer in the state have fallen by 48 per cent since 1982, from 9.4 to 4.8 cases per 100,000 people.
