Social service and industry groups are welcoming the Victorian Government’s $5.3 billion dollar funding commitment towards social housing, calling it a “win, win.”

This investment is said to be a significant step in addressing the state's housing and homelessness problems, while creating much-needed jobs of up to 10,000 jobs a year for the next four years.

The package is expected to build 12,000 new homes across Melbourne and the region, with the first 6,000 residences expected to be completed within 18 months.
