What do you understand of Super Flu?

As of the end of December 2025, eight provinces were reported to have been affected by the Super Flu, known as Influenza A subclade-K. According to CNN Indonesia, the highest number of Super Flu cases was in East Java, followed by West Java and South Kalimantan provinces.


Dr. Dicky Budiman PhD, Epidemiologist at Griffith University (Australia) and Yarsi University (Indonesia) and is an expert in Global Health Security. Dr. Dicky Budiman explains the differences between the common flu and Super Flu, their transmission, and how to treat them.

He explains that seniors aged 65 and over are a vulnerable group to Super Flu. Therefore, it is recommended that they receive a flu vaccine annually. However, everyone should also be vaccinated. Wearing masks, especially in crowded places, is also recommended.
