What is different about the Novavax anti-COVID-19 vaccine?

The eagerly-awaited Novavax vaccine is on track to become Australia’s fourth type of COVID-19 vaccine after gaining provisional approval from the medicines regulator.

The Novavax vaccine has shown promising results in clinical trials.  Why is there hope that this type of vaccine might encourage some vaccine-hesitant people to finally get inoculated?
