Pilgrimage is one of the five pillars of Islam. And for those who are healthy and able, it is recommended that they go on the Hajj at least once in their life. For this year, the departure of the first batch of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims is scheduled for 12 - 23 May 2024.
SBS Indonesian talked to Dr. Dicky Budiman, a Griffith University epidemiologist and Global Health Security expert.
He urges Hajj and Umrah pilgrims who are going to Saudi Arabia to prioritize their health due to ongoing health risks such as MERS and Meningitis. This includes getting recommended vaccinations.
