If a person’s gender role is a socially constructed idea that is reinforced through socialisation, what chances do women have to get equal rights?


Kate Walton is a writer and activist and Iwan Awaluddin Yusuf, is a lecturer in the Communications Department at the Indonesian Islamic University in Yogyakarta and is completing his PhD at Monash University.  They discuss the challenges for women achieving social and economic equality in Australia and Indonesia.
