The Japan Weather Association, the country's first privately-run meteorology company, announced their first cherry blossom forecast of the season on the 7th of February.
It says that this year's cherry blossoms are generally expected to open earlier than usual as the temperature after late February is predicted to be slightly higher.
In Tokyo, cherry blossoms are predicted to start opening on the 22nd of March.
The association will announce their second forecast on the 21st of February. After that, the latest forecast will be available weekly on Thursdays until late April.

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) has an English website dedicated to the cherry blossom forecast.
