The 50h Japanese Language Speech Contest-NSW State Contest took place at St. Joseph's College on the 15th of September. Broadcast on the 24th of September, 2019.

To encourage beginner-level students, NSW started its unique Wakaba (young leaves) division. Here are this years four award winning speeches in the Wakaba division.

The Wakaba division has only been introduced in NSW and there were 27 entries for the division this year.

This year, the Special Award went to Nicole Mikunda. Kathrine Hung, Shysie Wang and Marley Mulvin Broome won the Award of Excellence.
